Shinola`s Texas Cafe in Springtown

Been there quite a few times! Mostly had chopped sirloin and it’s good! BUT tonight had CFC and will NEVER again!!!! LEARN how to clean and cut out gristle/tendions/ligaments/bad chicken parts!!!!!! I’d rather have a SMALLER GOOD piece THAN a BIGGER... with GROSS parts!!!!!! Makes a person WONDER what else is done WRONG preparing the food!!!!

Good food and prices. It took a while to get our food but it was worth the wait. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

We come here often an enjoy the food 75 to 80 percent of the time. When they are on their "A game", it is hard to beat. The food bursts with flavor. My wife and I usually get the sirloin steak with grilled veggies and baked potato. And when they are on, their steak is one of the best. However there are some days that they are on their "B" or "C game" and they overcook the meat. That's when I walk away a bit more dissatisfied because I know what they can do. All of that to say that we will keep coming back because they have good to great food, and on most days, they are really good!

Out waiter was the coolest guy. Slaughter made sure that our sweet tea was never empty after my boyfriend chugged his slaughter brought him a jug of sweet tea with a straw and he downed it. There food was spectacular but there staff... Above and beyond amazing ❤️❤️❤️

Food was raw so I sent it back...chicken poppers. Then hamburger steak was raw.

Ordered to go on 11/15. 10 oz ribeye was 3 ounces of fat and gristle. I weighed it out when I got home with it and trimmed it off. I could've saved $5 and just ordered The 7oz sirloin. The "mixed veggies" were mostly burnt squash. My husband got the chicken fried steak, which was the only good thing and worth the money. We both had a side of mashed potatoes which were dry. And there was no gravy included in the to go order. Madison, who handled the to go order was a pleasant staff member and extremely apologetic. But from this 1 experience, the food quality was unfortunately disappointing. I will not be wasting $30 on another meal here, dining in or to go.

Very nice restaurant off the beaten path. You can get big city quality meal for a country price. They have some vegetarian options as well. I had the Portabella Monterrey. It was so good, it didn’t need side dishes.

Really horrible. We got catfish and it came with 3 sides. We ordered salads which were good. The catfish had weird corn breading coating with very little catfish strips. No flavor. The fried okra was stale and cold. No flavor. The cornbread looked days old, hard, crumbly and cold. I suppose this wasn't there specialty, probably the chicken fried steak. If that's the case only offer that on menu. We were very disappointed. We're won't be back.

Loved the chicken fried steak. Ordered the small one which would be the large anywhere else. Leftovers for another full meal at home. Friendly staff and very fast service. Our new favorite place!

A favorite place when I visit my Aunt in Springtown. Good food, classic Texas Rural atmosphere that reminds me of my youth in Springtown. Excellent food where I'm ordering the Chicken Fried Steak or a Prime Rib.

We're new to the area and someone told my wife about this place, so we tried it out. Great chicken fried steak. Can't wait to try some of their other foods.

First visit, my dad and I enjoyed beef enchiladas lunch special. Inside dining with social distancing. Service was friendly and courteous.

Shinolas has been a family fave for many years. We drive there from decatur and it is so worth it. Tender chicken fried steak, the taco plate, the fresh vegetables are just a few of our go to items. Great sit down restaurant which is hard to come by these days. Everything on the menu is good.

A great Texas restaurant right here in Springtown, TX. Everything on the menu is excellent. Though, when it comes to their Prime Rib it is cooked different. It is smoked which gives the PR a whole different taste. Enjoy!

It seems every time I order, whether take out or dine in, my order is wrong. Too many "kids" working there that just don't care or pay attention. Girl at the counter is rude every time I go in. I was looked at 4 times by a gentleman behind the counter while I waited the other day and he never once spoke to me. Last order I got I told them no tomatoes. I'm highly allergic. Tomatoes all over it. Waitress had them make me another to take home since my table was done eating at that point and we were all going back to work. Again, tomotoes. I gave it to a coworker. I've only eaten there 3 times and I'm pretty sure I'm done. I'll take my business to Weatherford or Azle.

Friendly staff. Fried okra and hush puppies were great. Nice fresh salad. The chicken fried steak was good. Fried catfish was rubbery. Clean inside, nice atmosphere. No paper towels in restroom.

This place gives you lot of good food for a little money. The lunch chicken fried steak is delicious and comes with 3 sides for about the same price as a fast food drive in burger combo at other places.

Been to Shinola's numerous time and each time I have been satisfied. CFS, chopped steak and catfish are great! All the sides I have ever eaten are wonderful. The mashed potatoes, corn and Mac and Cheese are well worth getting. You can not go wrong going to eat at Shinola's!!!!

Why do they charge $1.75 for a small bowl of Mac n Cheese. The soft drinks are almost $3.00 but it costs them less than a nickel. The food is not that good for such a up charge.

Ordered meatloaf and it's about the size of a small fist. No to go plasticware, guess I use my hands to eat with. Topping for meatloaf comes separate? Had to go back in to ask for rolls. Not even a busy time Sucks, no more for me. DONE!!

Good home cooked food in large portions and the wait staff are very friendly and attentive. We had a group of 8 and our waitress "chop liver", was great and never missed a beat.

This used to be such a great place to eat! Now it's slipped to the point it just needs to close. On 2 separate visits while having a family dinner, our orders came out either wrong or split bringing only half the order than completing it a half hour later. The waitress was gruff, and sarcastic, and when we told her we didn't want the late food (2 of us never got to eat) the OWNER came out and was rude, hateful and extremely disrespectful. She even became aggressive stating we had made her waitress cry. We will never be back and HIGHLY recommended you do not bother trying it. It is a sinking ship!!!!!

The hostess and waitresses were charming and gave the atmosphere a homey vibe. Food was very good. Tasted fresh and homemade. Good rolls. The kids menu has a lot of choices (main item + 2 sides and a drink for $5.99). They have those cut fries that go perfect with gravy. Portions are big and you can choose a smaller option. The smaller option was of substantial portions. Meals range from about $9-15ish. We will visit again.

Our first time here. I ordered a BLT with fries and he got a cheese steak with fries. The portions are large, the service fast and friendly. The prices good. We will be back for sure.

I will never suggest a place that serves cold pasta with a dash of shredded cheese and calls it mac and cheese even the supposed best chicken fried steak tasted like it was old meat and I had such high hopes for a local place 😪
